Proof Moscow is truly an international city

Day 14- First Russian food! Success!

It has been much harder to experience Russian culture via food than American (McDonald's, Burger King), Japanese (gabillions of sushi and steakhouse restaurants), German, Czech, Italian, Greek and, did I mention American? (every mall has an American style food court loaded with Sabarro, Texas Chicken, burger joints, etc).

  1. And what was the Russian food you selected? Looks like some beets, at least. I recommend the cognac more than the vodka. Keep the posts coming - you have readers.

  2. HA! I have NO idea what I ate- just that it had no sugar or flour. Chicken of some sort, potatoes, beets, and some vegetable thing. Top with 'voda gassem' (water with bubbles), serve hot. I will pass on the cognac over vodka advise.
    Thanks for reading!

  3. try the solyanka (sp?) soup. it's good. in fact, most of their soups should be good. ummm- maybe one pronounced "she" is also quite good. And try vareneki or permini (also just phonetic guesses, these are various sorts of tortellini like things) - and maybe you'll want to get the sour cream on the side.
